Marquette University, a prominent institution in Physician Assistant (PA) education, is seeking qualified candidates for an open Faculty position as Program Director in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, located within the College of Health Sciences (CHS). The department collaborates with other areas of the college and university to fulfill Marquette’s mission of Cura Personalis, which emphasizes holistic care.
The PA program includes 15 full-time faculty members, 40 part-time instructional faculty, a Program Specialist, an Assessment Coordinator, an Administrative Assistant, a Program Associate, and 75 students in each cohort, which is admitted annually. The 28-month graduate PA program features a comprehensive assessment process led by the Director of Assessment, ensuring ongoing accreditation from the ARC-PA. Marquette University invites applications for a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track position as Program Director and Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assessment and Accreditation: Supervise all assessment and ARC-PA accreditation efforts in collaboration with the Director of Assessment and the relevant committee chairs.
Admissions: Manage all aspects of student admissions in conjunction with the Director of Admissions.
Policies and Procedures: Develops, revises and ensures compliance with all departmental, college, university, and regulatory policies.
Orientation: Leads the MU PA team in providing accurate and timely onboarding information for incoming PA students.
Graduation Oversight: Supervise students’ academic and professional progression toward graduation and degree conferral and verify their qualifications for the PANCE exam.
MUSA Coordination: Collaborate with the faculty representative of the MUPA student organization on fundraising and community activities while ensuring compliance with ARC-PA and University standards.
Budget Management: Advise the department chair on budget maintenance and allocation in coordination with the College of Health Sciences business manager.
Supervision of faculty and staff: In collaboration with the MUPA department chair, hires, assigns, delegates duties, and supervises the work and quality of the work product for the faculty and staff.
Advising: Provide academic and professional advising to students. Supervises the Academic Promotion Process, including remediation and counseling.
Teaching: Teaching load and responsibilities based on departmental needs and the candidate’s expertise.
Credentialing: Responsible for credentialing MU PA faculty and ensuring compliance with licensure and board certification among instructional faculty and clinical preceptors.
Curriculum Oversight: Ensures didactic and clinical curriculum compliance with ARC-PA Standards, NCCPA Blueprint, AAPA Competencies, and PAEA Competencies in consultation with the Directors of Didactic and Clinical Education.
Licensure and Practice: Maintains an active Wisconsin PA license and NCCPA certification while engaging in active clinical practice or further education as determined by the Dean.
Promotion: Advises faculty on the standards for promotion and serves on the promotion committee.
Service: Active participation in committees to enhance the College, University, and community relations.
Community Relations: Cultivates new and enhances existing partnerships and relationships in conjunction with university advancement, the Dean, and the clinical team.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Master’s degree or higher in PA studies or a related field (e.g., education, public health).
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Physician Assistant educator.
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal skills for engaging students, staff, faculty, and the public effectively.
Excellent oral communication skills for inspiring and influencing others.
Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Capable of managing multiple deadlines and workloads.
Administrative experience demonstrated through prior roles.
Proficiency in PC/Mac, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and database management.
Familiarity with additional computer skills is a plus.
Competent in using Microsoft Teams for meetings.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of current trends in physician assistant education, clinical instruction, and evaluation.
Demonstrates personal and professional integrity in alignment with the university and department mission while representing the PA Program, the College of Health Sciences, and Marquette University.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated competence in maintaining the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) standards.
Previous managerial or organizational leadership experience at a PA program.
