Job Overview: The Physician Assistant in Total Joints Orthopedic Surgery works closely with orthopedic surgeons to evaluate, diagnose, and treat conditions related to the hip, knee, and shoulder, with a primary focus on joint replacement and reconstruction. Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical exams.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: Order, interpret, and correlate laboratory and diagnostic tests such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and blood tests.
  • Treatment Planning: Formulate and implement treatment plans for orthopedic problems within the scope of practice.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Administer injections, including corticosteroids and joint aspirations. Perform procedures such as wound closure, wound management, and minor outpatient surgical procedures.
  • Surgical Assistance: Assist in surgeries, including pre-operative planning, first assist, deep and superficial tissue closures, and application of appliances.
  • Post-Operative Care: Manage post-operative care, including monitoring recovery, prescribing medications, and recommending physical therapy.
  • Hospital Rounds: Conduct hospital rounds, write orders, and take call for the orthopedic surgeon.
  • Patient Education: Evaluate, screen, and counsel patients on health maintenance and promote utilization of community resources.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited PA program.
  • Experience: Prior healthcare experience, preferably in orthopedics or a related field.
  • Licensure: Current WA state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:

  • Setting: Hospital, outpatient clinics, and surgical centers.
  • Team: Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

This role is integral to ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients undergoing joint replacement and reconstruction surgeries.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
