Position: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant
Reports to: Medical Director & Operations Manager
The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant through a collaborative agreement works under the direct supervision of the clinic physician according to the medical guidelines set forth by the organization.
Under general direction, provides patient care; conducts physical exams; completes health history summary; documents patients’ progress; assists with patient care management.
The environment is fast-paced and the position is multifaceted. There are no “on-call” requirements of the Practitioner, however, an occasional telephone call from the clinic staff or staff of Medi-Weightloss Mechanicsville may be required.
Essential Job FunctionsObtains and reviews patient’s medical and psychosocial history information relevant to patient careConducts physical examinations according to Medi-Weightloss Clinics® GuidelinesOrders and reviews laboratory studies as well as diagnostic procedures; including ECGs. Repeat testing is to be conducted and managed according to the clinic Standard Operating Procedures and as needed and deemed necessary by the practitioner and medical director.Assumes responsibility for prescribing and dispensing FDA approved appetite suppressants according to state and federal guidelines.Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of medication inventory, logs, and reconciliation procedures. This responsibility is considered collaborative with the clinic medical director.Reviews patient’s progress and manages patient care accordinglyMaintains all required documentation for patient care and medication managementFacilitates referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities as necessary and will communicate with collaborating physician and/ or specialist regarding patient’s care
Non-essential Job Functions
Provides training to clinical and non-clinical staff as neededParticipates in refresher training as requested by management. Refresher training may be by means of Regional Trainings, Onsite Support by Corporate Office, Boot camps, and eLearning.Documents patient progress notes and treatment plans in the Electronic Medical Record, EMR.Conducts consultations with patients regarding the programPerforms other clinical duties as required and needed to complete daily responsibilities and provide patient careConducts follow up calls to patients to discuss the patient’s progress and address any concernsProvides ongoing support to promote clinic profitability and success
