**Role Description**
This is a full-time, on-site Physician Assistant role located in Lansdowne, VA. The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care under physician supervision, including conducting histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and formulating assessment and treatment plans for pulmonary and critical care patients. Daily responsibilities include managing follow-up visits, monitoring chronic respiratory conditions, providing patient and family education on treatment plans and disease management, and supporting transitions of care between inpatient and outpatient settings. The role also involves prescribing medications as allowed by licensure, documenting encounters in the medical record, collaborating with physicians and other clinicians on complex cases, and participating in quality improvement and care coordination activities. The Physician Assistant is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, adhere to clinical protocols, and support a safe, respectful environment for patients and staff.
**Qualifications**
* Current Physician Assistant license (or eligibility) in the state of Virginia and graduation from an accredited PA program.
* Certification by NCCPA and active DEA registration or eligibility, in accordance with state requirements.
* Clinical experience or strong interest in pulmonary medicine, critical care, or related internal medicine specialties.
* Proficiency in performing comprehensive histories and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing evidence-based treatment plans.
* Ability to prescribe medications, manage chronic and acute conditions, and respond to changes in patient status in collaboration with supervising physicians.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills for patient education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
* Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, culturally sensitive care and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, prioritize tasks, and contribute to team-based care and quality improvement initiatives.
* Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development, continuing medical education, and updates in pulmonary and critical care best practices.
* Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
