Position Overview
Capital Spine & Pain Institute is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing spine surgery practice. We are flexible and welcome candidates seeking full-time, part-time, or per diem opportunities.
This position offers a unique combination of outpatient spine clinic and surgical first-assist responsibilities(CLINIC ONLY IS AVAILABLE TOO IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE IN THE OR), working closely with a board-certified spine surgeon in a fast-growing, patient-focused practice.
The ideal candidate is comfortable independently evaluating and managing spine patients in the clinic setting and MUST HAVE prior experience in orthopedic spine, neurosurgery, pain management, PM&R, ER, Urgent Care, or orthopedic surgery. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THIS EXP.
Position Highlights

Responsibilities
Clinic Duties
- Independently evaluate and manage spine patients
- Obtain histories and perform physical examinations
- Review imaging studies including MRI, CT, and X-rays
- Develop treatment plans under physician supervision
- Order diagnostic studies and coordinate patient care
- Perform follow-up visits and post-operative evaluations
- Educate patients regarding surgical and non-surgical treatment options
Surgical Duties
- Assist in spine surgery procedures
- Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient management
- Surgical experience preferred but not required for exceptional candidates with significant spine clinic experienc
- postop clinic care
Requirements
Required
- Current Virginia PA or NP license
- Minimum of 3 years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience
- Minimum of 3 years managing spine/ortho/pain management/ER/Urgent Care patients in an outpatient setting
- Ability to independently evaluate and treat spine patients – Supervising MD is readily available
- Strong clinical decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Willingness to travel between practice locations
Preferred
- Orthopedic Spine experience
- Neurosurgery experience
- Pain Management experience
- PM&R experience
- ER/Urgent Care exp
- Surgical First Assist experience
- Experience interpreting spine imaging
Travel Requirements
- Travel throughout Northern Virginia practice locations
- Approximately 2 days per month in Richmond, Virginia. Remaining days in NoVa
- Reliable transportation required
