Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate medical documentation in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety
- Provide specialized care for patients with complex needs such as Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, behavioral health conditions, or developmental disabilities
- Assist with catheter care, wound care, and other medical procedures following established protocols and infection control standards
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers, ICU units, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or post-acute settings
- Maintain a safe environment by using proper body mechanics and equipment like Hoyer lifts while supporting patient transfers and mobility
Skills
- Proven experience working with diverse populations including seniors, pediatrics, individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and recognize abnormal findings requiring escalation
- Experience with specialized care areas such as hospice care, memory/dementia care, acute or sub-acute care settings
- Proficiency in using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts and working within fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care clinics
