Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring optimal patient flow
- Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers, utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and handle billing tasks with accuracy using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech
- Review and update patient records while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of health information
- Assist with intake procedures by gathering medical history, updating documentation review processes, and explaining treatment plans to patients
- Manage office supplies, file medical records systematically, and support clinic operations to ensure smooth daily functioning
Skills
- Extensive experience with medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and documentation review in a healthcare setting
- Proficiency in dental terminology, health information management systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and ensure compliance during all administrative processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key typing), and familiarity with office management software
- Exceptional customer service skills paired with phone etiquette for handling inquiries professionally on multi-line phone systems
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with insurance verification, medical coding (ICD-10), Medicare processes, and care plan documentation is a plus
- Strong organizational skills for filing, managing medical records, and supporting front desk operations in a busy environment
