In this vital role, you will deliver high-quality patient care across various clinical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialty care environments. Your expertise will support diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of diverse medical conditions, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Administer injections, perform suturing, and manage procedures such as catheterizations, intubations, and ventilator management with aseptic technique.
- Utilize EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medication administration, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and data management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital settings such as Level I & II trauma centers, ICUs (Intensive Care Units), PICUs (Pediatric Intensive Care Units), and neonatal units to coordinate complex care plans.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations including radiology orders, laboratory tests (blood draws/Phlebotomy), and interpret results for clinical decision-making.
- Support acute pain management strategies and infectious disease care protocols while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Participate in clinical research trials related to new treatments or procedures such as botulinum toxin treatments or esthetic laser therapies; contribute to data collection and analysis for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Certified Physician Assistant with current licensure in good standing; experience working within hospital medicine or emergency medicine preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical coding including CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9 is essential.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology; capable of performing physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations confidently.
- Experience in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers; background in acute care or post-acute care settings highly desirable.
- Skilled in procedures including suturing, injection administration (including dermal fillers), tube feeding management, dialysis support, and airway management techniques.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques; experience with ventilator management and respiratory therapy is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education on health coaching topics like family planning or addiction counseling; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
