Job Description: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality mental health care to patients both in-office and in their homes in the San Antonio, TX area. The focus is on reducing hospitalizations, stabilizing mental health conditions, and improving the overall quality of life for patients. The ideal candidate will have experience managing diverse psychiatric conditions and delivering care in a patient-centered, compassionate manner.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments for patients in-office and in their homes, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
  • Monitor and manage chronic mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
  • Address acute psychiatric concerns promptly through in-person visits or telehealth platforms when appropriate.
  • Educate patients and families on psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and healthy coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient visits, treatment plans, and progress notes using electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
  • Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions and documentation.

Experience

  • Previous experience in mental health or psychiatric care is required, preferably with exposure to diverse patient populations, including geriatrics and home health settings.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric treatment protocols and evidence-based practices.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and virtual patient care delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and balance patient care, documentation, and administrative responsibilities.

Job Types

  • Contract (1099 position)

Pay

  • $90,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year

Additional Details

  • Care is provided both in-office and in patients’ homes, focusing on individuals aged 18 and older, with the majority being over 65.
  • No mileage or equipment reimbursement; contractors may claim expenses on their income tax returns.
  • This is a 1099 contract position and does not include benefits.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday.

Location

  • San Antonio, TX (Bexar County). Applicants must be local or relocate before starting work.

Pay: $124,974.00 – $134,039.00 per year
