Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our orthopedics practice. The Orthopedic Surgical PA will work under the supervision of a licensed surgeon to provide clinic consultations, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care to patients. This role requires a dynamic clinician who thrives in a fast-paced medical and surgical environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Operative:
- Conduct patient histories and physical exams
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Educate patients and families on procedures, risks, and post-op care
- Obtain informed consent under surgeon supervision
Intra-Operative:
- Assist in surgery as first or second assist
- Prepare and drape patients for surgery
- Maintain sterile field and manage surgical instruments
- Perform suturing, stapling, wound closure, and other delegated tasks
Post-Operative:
- Monitor and assess patient recovery
- Manage wound care, dressings, and drain removal
- Prescribe medications and post-op therapies under protocol
- Participating in discharge planning and patient education
General Duties:
- Document patient encounters and maintain EMR records
- Participate in clinical rounds and multidisciplinary care planning
- Respond to patient questions and concerns in a timely manner
- Adhere to hospital and departmental protocols and safety standards
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification
- Active and unrestricted PA license in Texas
- Current BLS and ACLS certification
- DEA
- Surgical assisting experience preferred but not required (new grads welcome with appropriate rotations)
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced surgical and clinical settings
- Frequent standing, walking, and patient interaction
- May require on-call shifts, weekends, or evenings depending on surgical schedules

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
