Position: Nurse Practitioner for Occupational Health Services

Position Summary:

  • $70,000.00 to $100,000 a Year Salary (Exempt) starting pay
  • Normal Work Schedule is 5 days a week Monday through Friday but subject to overtime (overtime is exempt)
  • Long term assignment
  • Medical Insurance is available within 90 days of hire date and RPSC, Insurance pays 100% after deductible
  • Personal Time Off (PTO) offered including Extended Sick Time (EIT)

  • Assignment Location: McAllen, TX 78501

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Active license/certification verifiable as a U.S. Nurse Practitioner – and in good standing
  • Qualifications: *
  • 4+ years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner
  • 2+ years of experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – CPR for the Professional Responder
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent
  • Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or equivalent
  • Must show attention to detail
  • Must be able to treat severely traumatic wounds and injuries and maintain composure to allow the individual to treat the patient
  • Must be able to pass a medical fitness review
  • Must be able to pass a detailed Criminal Background check
  • Must be able to pass a detailed Motor Vehicle Record Background check
  • Must be able to pass a detailed 14 Panel Substance Abuse Screen

Additional Qualifications that would be considered a plus:

  • Experience in an occupational health setting a plus
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, ADA, FMLA and OSHA regulations
  • Knowledge of OSHA Record ability and worker’s compensation principles a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with client and employees
  • Spanish Speaking / Bilingual a Plus

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers basic, intermediate and advanced patient care within the limits of licensure or certification and in accordance with approved protocols in an occupational clinical environment.
  • Treat injuries and/or illnesses using advanced life support techniques and medications.
  • Performs emergency skills, such as managing respiratory, trauma, and cardiac emergencies, and patient assessments.
  • Prepares treatment room, selects and lays out medical supplies, and maintains medical equipment.
  • Conducts record keeping, filing, data entry as required by Rio Plex Safety Council other than patient or treatment related records.
  • Prepare different types of reports as required by the Client or Rio Plex Safety Council.
  • Answer phone calls.
  • Maintaining comfortable, orderly, safe, and clean environments.
  • Provides routine information related to medical treatments and procedures.
  • Measure and record vital signs, collects specimens, and escort patients to exam room as needed.
  • Document and record all patient interactions and care provided.
  • Completes assigned workstation duties as required by the position.
  • Orders supplies and equipment from Supply to replenish inventories as needed.
  • Participate and/or conduct Man Down drills.
  • May be asked to perform other duties to support Rio Plex Safety Council.
  • Submits both weekly and Monthly written professional formatted client related and operational reports

Language Ability:

Must be able to read, write, and proficiently speak English

Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively presents information and responds to questions from managers, customers, Emergency Medical Personnel.

Mathematical Ability:

Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percentages and interprets positive and negative values

Reasoning Ability:

Defines problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

The employee must regularly push, pull and/or lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift, as well as, climb without any difficulty.
