FOR QUALIFIED CANDITATE ROLES

  • Graduation from an accredited program required
  • Completion of an Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistance(ARC-PA) approved programs (Prior to January 2001)-Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs
  • Current Certifications by the National Commission on certification of Physician Assistants
  • Current state license or eligibility for the state of Texas physician assistant
  • Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required
  • Some evening or weekend work will be required
  • Bilingual-English/ Spanish

JOB KNOWLEDGE

  • Medical experience in a physician’s office or equivalent combinations of training and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to physician effectiveness by identifying short term and long range patient care issues that must be addressed by providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations and recommending options and courses of action and implementing physician directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory studies; interpreting tests.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Meets all electronic medical record documentation requirements.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities.
  • Reviews and completes Home Health’s and Title XIX, among other required patient forms
  • Needs to take care of metrics for HMO insurance.
  • Makes sure medication requests and approvals have been done before leaving for the day
  • Reviews faxes that are related to patient care
  • May need to take incoming calls related to patient care
  • Responsible for each patient’s notes, documentation, medical records and make sure to have all notes completed no later than 72 hours.
  • Contacts supervising provider for assistance if needed pertaining to patient care
  • Advises supervising provider when leaving for lunch breaks and leaving for the day
  • Updating the supervising provider prior to leaving for the day of there were any significant patient encounters
  • Will re-frame from utilizing unspecified ICD 10 diagnosis when appropriate and select to the highest specificity.
  • Require to clock in or out for the purpose of attendance and clinic safety
  • Required to call or text the supervising physician and clinic contact person at least 24 hours to advise that he/she will not be able to work on assigned day and time.
  • Will abide by the Prescriptive Authority Agreement scope of practice.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65.00 per hour
