Full Job Description

Major/Essential Functions Obtain detailed patient history and perform physical examinations on patients in the Department of Neurology. Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health needs of the patient. Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Provide follow-up health care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician. Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Effectively communicate with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care. Contributes to continuous improvement by meeting quality standards and patient experience metrics. Required Qualifications Graduation from a Physician Assistant’s training program approved by the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant license in the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by pass the examinations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
