Jason R. Bailey, MD, PA is immediately seeking a full time, certified Physician Assistant to join our plastic surgery practice in Houston, Texas. We are looking to add a positive, professional, growth-minded, and compassionate team player who enjoys a challenge. Position Objective:
Responsible for growing our comprehensive cosmetic and medical APP service as well as providing supervised clinical services for patients in both the ambulatory and acute-care settings (including perioperative). Administrative duties, such as quality assurance, clinical operations, and program growth will be required. All duties are in collaboration with the supervising physician, services are provided under the rules, regulations, and policies established by the approved job description of the State of Texas.
Essential Job Duties:
- Providing General Medical Services and Treatments to Patients: evaluating patients and assisting with their care which includes, but is not limited to, performing a thorough exam, dressing changes, removing lines and drains, and performing minor procedures. Formulate a treatment plan for problems within scope of practice. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising surgeon, or other health care professionals.
- Identifies assessment, diagnostic strategies, and therapeutic interventions within the plan that reflect current evidence, including data, research, literature and expert clinical knowledge; collaborates with physician on the plan as needed.
- Wound Debridement and Management: includes organizing and educating patients about home dressing changes/case care.
- Clinic Setting: involves management of uncomplicated post-operative and perioperative care of patients including wound management, x-ray evaluation, in-office minor procedures independently in the office, review pathology results with patients, etc.
- Accurately record in the EMR and submit documentation of consults and procedures performed so the services can be billed.
- Assisting under the direction and guidance of Practice Physicians with Medical Procedures: support the plastic surgery attending physician with consultations and procedures in the Emergency Room and Operating Room. Expedite care by being available to assist the physician with consultations when the physician is on call.
- Operating Room: assist the surgeon in the Operating Room with all procedures.
- Uses current health care research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, and enhance role performance and increase knowledge of professional issues.
- Cares directly for patients and helps manage complex patients. Promotes patient engagement by explaining treatment plan, identifying and addressing any expected obstacles. Ability to compare and contrast clinical findings, normal and abnormal variations in formulating a diagnosis.
Education and Experience Required:
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant School
- Surgical experience required
- Plastic / Microvascular Surgery clinical experience as a PA preferred
Required License/Certification:
- Licensed as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Texas
- Physical Demands: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

We are specialists with a like-minded, patient centered approach and collectively specialize in hand surgery, breast surgery and microvascular reconstructive plastic surgery. Our private practice was established a decade ago and services Houston and its surrounding areas with a total of 4 clinics and a privately owned surgery center. We currently have 3 surgeons, a PA and an RN as well as a staff of 12 employees.
