Nurse Practitioner Job Description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in various settings, including primary care, urgent care, and specialty clinics. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing treatment plans, and delivering comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to determine health status.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, including but not limited to gastroenterology, infectious diseases, and behavioral health.
- Administer treatments such as IV infusions, injections, and botulinum toxin treatments.
- Perform procedures including suturing, catheterization, spinal taps, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in managing patient care.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for patient records management.
- Provide health coaching and education to patients regarding their conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in clinical research projects as needed.
- Engage in telehealth consultations to expand access to care for patients.
Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner license with relevant certifications.
- Experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or hospital settings preferred.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and coding (ICD-9/ICD-10/CPT).
- Familiarity with various EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and infection control practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform essential nursing skills such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, vital sign assessment, and specimen collection/processing.
- Commitment to providing compassionate patient-centered care in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care environments. Candidates who possess additional skills such as experience in pain management, hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics, or advanced procedures like cardiac catheterization or neonatal ventilator management will be given preference.
