Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-employment physicals, return to work physicals, fitness for duty assessments, and Department of Transportation (DOT) exams to determine an individual’s ability to perform job-related tasks safely.
  • Provide immediate care for acute injuries and manage ongoing treatment for work-related conditions, including acute injury care and return-to-work evaluations.
  • Perform thorough medical evaluations, review medical records, lab results, audiograms, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and imaging.
  • Perform telemedicine consultations for initial injury assessments, follow-up care, and return-to-work decisions, providing after-hours support as needed.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of workplace health programs and policies.
  • Educate and train new hires, including Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and emergency medical personnel (Medics/Paramedics), to ensure they meet the clinic’s standards of care.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and health requirements.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures such as suturing basic lacerations, foreign body removal, and comprehensive eye examinations, including slit lamp examinations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Valid PA or NP license and certification in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in occupational medicine highly preferred.
  • Current DOT certification required.
  • Current FMCSA DOT certification required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting EKGs, X-rays, audiograms, and pulmonary function tests.
  • Skilled in minor surgical procedures and proficient in using telemedicine platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of educating and leading new team members.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team.

Salary Transparency (Texas)

The annual salary range for this position is $115,000 – $125,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and skills. HV Health and Safety believes in transparency and fairness when it comes to compensation.
