Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. This position involves assessing patient health, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will work closely with patients to manage their cardiac health and provide education on lifestyle modifications and disease management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with cardiovascular diseases, including obtaining medical histories and performing physical examinations.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices.
- Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal health outcomes.
- Perform diagnostic tests and interpret results, including EKGs and other cardiac assessments.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding cardiac conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in managing complex cases.
- Participate in triage for acute cardiac issues, ensuring timely intervention for patients in need of urgent care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in electronic health records (EHR).
- Stay current with advancements in cardiology practices and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Schedule: 13-hour shifts
No call required
Patient Population: Pediatrics
Cases: Step down for cardiac care unit and pulmonology
Must be board-certified

Skills
- Proficient in triage techniques and assessment of cardiovascular conditions.
- Experience in pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) or similar critical care settings is a plus.
- Ability to ventilate patients effectively when necessary.
- Knowledge of memory care principles for managing elderly patients with cognitive impairments.
- Strong nursing skills with a focus on IV infusion administration.
- Familiarity with hospice palliative medicine principles for end-of-life care discussions.
- Understanding of geriatrics and the unique needs of older adults in cardiology settings.
- Knowledge of psychopharmacology related to cardiac medications and their effects on mental health.
- Experience with gastric lavage procedures as needed for specific patient cases.
