Full Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing high level quality medical care to a variety of patients in a private, multi-location pediatric practice. This is an hourly paid position.

Education, Licensure, & Certification Requirements:
-
Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas and hold a current certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized certifying body (Pediatric Nursing Certification Board or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board)

Physician Assistant (PA) must be licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board and hold a current certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants and have experience in pediatrics/primary care

APN and PA must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience Requirements:
-
Three (3)+ years experience in a pediatric setting preferred but not required
-
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
-
Thorough knowledge of medical terminology preferred
-
Knowledge of medical billing coding, including CPT and ICD-10 coding, required
-
Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations

Interpersonal skills to support customer service. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Demonstrates knowledge of current computer systems (Practice Management software and Electronic Medical Records software). Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines

Provide direct clinical care that incorporates comprehensive assessment skills diagnostic ability, critical thinking, independent decision-making, collaborate management of problems and the ability to critically analyze research and evidence based medicine in order to apply in practice

Complete patient history and physical examination
-
Diagnose and manage patient care/treatment
-
Order and interpret appropriate labs/diagnostic tests
-
Prescribe medication as warranted and provide education regarding medication
-
Consultation with and referrals to specialists as needed
