Physician Assistant (PA)
We are currently looking for a physician assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who has a “can do” attitude with great communication skills, able to multitask and enjoys working with a team. There are medical office and procedure room settings, as well as travel between Arlington, Mansfield, and Midlothian facilities.
The Physician Assistant (PA) will provide health care services to patients under the direction of one doctor in a specialty group of four physicians. They are responsible for practicing medicine, within their scope-of-practice, including conducting examinations, ordering, and interpreting diagnostic tests, and writing prescriptions.
This position is considered a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by clinical and service staff of the center. Patient services are the key priority in this position requiring you to serve as a point of contact with other internal and external departments, all with the goal of fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust. Some responsibilities will include:
Job Duties:
- Examines patients, obtains medical histories, and assesses health status.
- Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests.
- Prescribes medications and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds.
- Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of practice.
- Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
- Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including performing CPR.
- Coordinates appropriate specialty referrals.
- Counsel patient/family on preventive health care.
- Reviews patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports.
- Documents patient information and care in medical record.
- Performs other duties as assigned, within their scope-of-practice.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants. Familiar with medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis.
- Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories, performing physicals, evaluating health status including state of wellness, and compliance with care recommendations.
- Knowledge of diagnosing and treating medical problems and developing care plans.
- Knowledge of medical records documentation in confidential manner.
Skills:
- Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
- Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
- Skill in developing/revising patient care plan based on patient status.
Abilities:
- Ability to understand complex medical information.
- Ability to make responsible decisions within scope of PA practice and function independently.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians on complicated cases.
- Ability to effectively educate patients, families, staff, and external customers.
- Ability to demonstrate eye–hand coordination, full range of motion, and manual dexterity.
- Ability to competently use Microsoft Office and the EMR system.
Equipment Operated: Medical instruments required for physical exams and minor surgery and computer hardware/software.
Work Environment: Medical office and exam room settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions common to clinic. Frequent contact with a variety of people.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with a Physician Assistant such as standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting. Occasionally helps to transfer patient. High level of responsibility and heavy workload can generate stress and occasionally may involve irregular working hours.
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited PA school
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current active licensure/Certification to practice as a PA in the State of Texas
- DEA license or willing to obtain
- Maintain both state and national certificate
- CPR Certification
- Valid Driver’s License
- 1 year of EMR experience is a plus
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Full-Time, 40 hours/week
- 7:30am – 4:30pm
- No weekends, evenings, or holidays
- No on call

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
