Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including history and physical exams, in the outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
- Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and cardiac stress tests.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
- Prescribe medications and treatments as appropriate within the APP’s scope of practice.
- Assist in the management of patients with conditions such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary cardiology team to provide coordinated patient care.
- Assist in procedures such as stress testing, catheterizations, or other interventional procedures, if applicable.
- Provide patient education on cardiovascular risk factors, lifestyle modifications, and medication management.
- Participate in hospital rounds, monitor patient progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records using electronic health records (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities related to cardiology.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active Tennessee licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
- National certification in Family, Adult, Acute Care, or Cardiology (preferred).
- Current BLS and ACLS certification.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in cardiology preferred
- Experience with EHR systems.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Work Environment:
- Outpatient and/or inpatient clinical setting.
- Occasional participation in on-call rotations may be required.
