Full Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner(NP)/Physician Assistant (PA)provides primary and specialized healthcare services to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician. NP/PA’s assess, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic illnesses, promote health maintenance, and provide patient education.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and diagnostic tests.
  • Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses, injuries, and infections.
  • Manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma through medication management, lifestyle counseling, and monitoring.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms.
  • Develop and implement patient care plans, including prescribing medications, therapies, and other treatment modalities.
  • Provide patient education on disease prevention, health promotion, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and specialists, to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including documentation of assessments, treatments, and patient interactions.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice projects to enhance healthcare delivery.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards of nursing practice, including patient confidentiality and informed consent.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) or PA from an accredited program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/PA in the state of practice.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner/PA in the relevant specialty area
  • Advanced clinical knowledge and skills in primary care assessment, diagnosis, and management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare technologies.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning and professional development, including continuing education requirements for licensure renewal.
  • Ability to work independently and make clinical decisions within scope of practice, while also seeking consultation or referral when appropriate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for performing physical exams and procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move patients as needed (with assistance).
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials.

Working Conditions:

  • Typically works in outpatient clinics, hospitals, long-term care facilities, or community health centers.
  • May work evenings, weekends, and holidays to provide continuity of care.
  • Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and varying patient acuity levels.
  • Potential exposure to stressful situations and emotional patient interactions.
