Job OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at South Carolina Sleep Medicine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of various health conditions. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
South Carolina Sleep Medicine is seeking a dedicated and experienced Sleep Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team. This is a full-time position with a 5-day work week and no on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct CPAP fittings and provide patient education on device usage and maintenance.
- Diagnose and manage a broad spectrum of sleep disorders, including but not limited to:
- Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA)
- Insomnia
- Narcolepsy
- Restless Legs Syndrome
- Circadian Rhythm Disorders
- Oversee and interpret in-lab sleep studies, collaborating with sleep technologists to ensure accurate results and optimal patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating and studying medical histories.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests or radiology studies. Interprets test results.
- Prescribes medications based on any restrictions within the cooperative agreement with the supervising physician.
- Documents patient care completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.
- Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides instruction and counseling by describing therapeutic regimens, giving normal parameters, promoting wellness and health maintenance.
- Provides continuity of care by working in conjunction with the supervising physician to develop and implement patient management plans.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities and experiential growth opportunities.
- Monitor performance of healthcare professionals at lower levels including nurses, technicians and medical assistants.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Nationally certified as a Physician Assistant
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in sleep medicine.
- Proficiency in CPAP therapy management and a comprehensive understanding of various sleep disorders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Active SC medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: Graduate of an accredited physician assistant curriculum.
Certification: Certification by passing of the Physician Assistant National Certification Exam (PANCE).
Licensure: Licensure to practice in the State of SC; Controlled Substance License and DEA required.
Experience Requirements: One year of experience in a health care setting is preferred.
