Full Job Description
Job Title: Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner
Reports To: Physician
General Summary of Duties:
The NP/PA will be responsible for delivering specialized care in Hand, Sports Medicine and Fracture Care Adult Joint Reconstruction at the largest Orthopedics practice in the state of Rhode Island. They will conduct assessments, formulate treatment plans, and provide patient education, playing a key role in optimizing musculoskeletal health and enhancing overall patient well-being as well as functioning as a surgical assistant.

- Maintain an independent schedule and evaluate patients independently as well as under the direction of the supervising physician.
- Assist physician in examining and diagnosing musculoskeletal and joint problems.
- Assist in surgery and collaborate with the physician and surgical team to provide support during the procedure.
- Order and interpret test results and recommend treatment of patients.
- Administer injections as needed when indicated.
- Provide postoperative patient care.
- Write prescriptions and medical orders.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records of patients’ assessments, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
- Participate in Division research and educational activities.
- Interact and work with orthopedic surgery residents and division fellows.
- Additional duties as assigned to meet office needs.
- Hospital rounding as needed
Requirements:
- Must have an active RI PA license or be eligible for a license as a PA/NP in RI.
- 2 years+ experience as an orthopedic PA/NP or a new PA/NP graduate with orthopedic experience.
- Interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills to deal effectively with staff, patients, and physicians in a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient records.
- Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.
