Full Job Description

East Bay Community Action Program is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that provides a wide array of health and human services to the residents of Rhode Island’s East Bay. Our mission is to provide high-quality, comprehensive and accessible health and human services to assist people to achieve their fullest potential.

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full time RI licensed Physician Assistant to work as a primary care provider foe all age groups at our Health Centers located in Barrington and East Providence, RI. This role will work closely through a multi-disciplinary team approach to provide all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment, referral, and consultation.

Job Responsibilities

Assess patient health by interviewing patients; performing physical examinations; obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.

Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections (subcutaneous, intramuscular) and immunizations, and infections.

Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed and recommend options and courses of action.

Provide information and commentary pertinent to patient care with recommendations for options and courses of action and implement physician directives.

Provide continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.

Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests and/or interpreting test results.

Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.

Education, Experience, and Technical Skills

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the RI Department of Health. Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid at the Provider level

Prior experience with drawing of arterial, venous, or peripheral blood for analysis.

Prior experience with pulmonary function tests and electrocardiograms .

Prior experience with the care of superficial wounds and skin, debridement and suturing.

Prior experience with the administration of subcutaneous local anesthesia.

Prior experience with casting and splinting of sprains and fractures and removal of casts.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Available to potentially work one evening until 8 pm as needed.
