Full Job Description

Schedule: Per Diem, Variable – Non-Committed – Coverage for surgical staff on a per diem basis. Hours are flexible. Most surgeries are Mon-Fri, days. Need coverage 4 weeknights per month & 1 weekend.

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant will work within the Surgery department.

Coverage for surgical staff on a per diem basis. Hours are flexible.

Most surgeries are Monday–Friday, days.

Need coverage 4 weeknights per month and 1 weekend. Surgical specialties include, but are not limited to, general, vascular, colorectal, breast, plastics, OB and robotics.

The physician assistant will be categorized as being on the Dependent Specified Professional Personnel Staff and will be subject to all definitions, privileges and responsibilities found in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations pertaining to that category. The Physician Assistant will assist in surgery under the direct supervision of the surgeon.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong OR presence and competency.
  • Robotic training is a plus, but will train.
  • Ability to adapt in an ever-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills required.
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team required.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality required.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions required.
  • Quickly troubleshoots and resolves problems required.
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude required.
  • Competency in the use of a variety of computer hardware and software systems required.
  • Experience with MEDITECH Meditech EMR a plus, but will train.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Physician Assistant, licensed upon hire, required.
