Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner working for the Trauma, Acute Care Surgery and Surgical Critical Care department shall deliver comprehensive patient care for this designated patient population throughout the care continuum. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will function as a clinical expert for this population and will work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary and interprofessional team to coordinate and deliver all aspects of care, including initial resuscitation, intensive care management and discharge planning. The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will perform patient assessments and coordinate patient management autonomously with physician collaboration and supervision as appropriate and in accordance with hospital policies and Pennsylvania state legislation. The Physician Assistant’s or Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice includes the following elements: direct patient care, medical and procedural intervention, operative first assistance, education, performance and quality improvement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree in Nursing or from an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Nurse Practitioner licensed in PA or Physician Assistant licensed in PA upon hire required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire required.
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) upon hire required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) upon hire required.
