Adjunct Faculty for Master of Physician Assistant Studies

Chatham University seeks applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty for our Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program.

Our Adjunct Faculty, under the supervision of the Program Director (PD), is responsible for providing an educational experience for our students that meets accreditation standards and comply with institutional and program’s policies and procedures and has at least one year of clinical experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Provides classroom or laboratory instruction as directed by the PD.
  • Assists in the assessment of students’ knowledge, skills, and behavior. This varies by course and may be done through:
    • Grading written documentation (including examinations).
    • Grading physical exam competencies.
    • Observing standardized patient encounters.
    • Participating in medical simulation.
    • Acting as a problem-based learning facilitator in which face to face feedback is given daily.
    • Provide academic counseling to students.
  • If course director:
    • Writes and revises syllabi.
    • Maintains class Brightspace learning management system page.
    • Responds to student questions or concerns within the norms set by the program.
    • Completes ongoing accreditation duties of Course Assessment Matrices and Curriculum Mapping with the guidance of the Associate Director of Curriculum & Instruction.
    • Enters grades in the university-defined timeframe.
    • Provide course-related advising, as necessary.
    • Keep full-time faculty/academic advisors informed on student progress and performance, as appropriate.
  • Assists in the reviewing the didactic curriculum to comply with changes in accreditation requirements, program structure, and program philosophy, as needed.
  • Assists with the evaluation and selection of suitable resources for coursework and independent study.
  • Participates in the review, recommendation, and procurement of instructional materials.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Actively pursues continuing education activities as required for maintaining professional qualifications.
  • Maintains professional certifications and/or licenses required by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania’s State Board of Medicine.

Duties (as directed by the PD and Principal Faculty Course Director)

  • Participates in faculty and program meetings as directed.
  • Additional teaching or administrative responsibilities as directed by the PD and course director.
  • Keeps the PD and Principal Faculty Course Director informed on the progress of all assignments.
  • Participates in accreditation review, assessment, and implementation of changes on an ongoing basis.
