Full Job Description
Very busy private Plastic Surgery practice, 100% cosmetic surgery, hiring a Physician’s Assistant (PA) to assist with in-office patient care and first assisting in the OR. Must be certified in the state of Pennsylvania and preferably NJ as well. Experience in Plastic Surgery is a plus but not required. Our team provides the highest quality care and is focused on superior patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical preoperative and postoperative care to patients
- Perform complete histories and physical examinations
- Develop appropriate plan of care and follow-up based on outcomes of diagnostic, laboratory and physician’s examination findings
- Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with standards in electronic medical records.
- Orders medications and writes prescription according to regulatory policies and procedures
- Will be on call for postoperative patients, must be willing to field patient calls on evenings and weekends and occasionally see patients on weekends
- The right candidate will have the opportunity to perform non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as injectables and laser.
- Adhere to established safety policies, procedures, and precautions (OSHA)
- Adhere to HIPPA policies, procedures, and precautions
- Demonstrate expert clinical judgment skills to function in an independent role under the guidance of a licensed physician
- Must be able to relate to and be empathic to the plastic surgery patient seeking cosmetic surgery
- Must have a high level of integrity to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
Technical Skills Required:
- Must be able to first assist in the operating room and have excellent suturing skills for deep suturing, subcutaneous suturing, subcuticular suturing and drain placement
- Administer injections local anesthetic and steroid
- Be able to aspirate chest and abdominal seromas
- Proficient in post-surgical incision care and wound care management
Requirements:
- Certified license as a Physician Assistant PA-C in the state of Pennsylvania and preferably in New Jersey as well
- Previous experience 1-3 years as a Physician Assistant, preferred
- Prescriptive Authority – Pennsylvania State Licensing Board and preferably in New Jersey as well
- Current DEA license
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Must be proficient with Electronic Medical Records (Epic, Nextech)
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families and staff
- Must be energetic, quality driven and have proven ability to be a productive member of the team
