About us

The Philadelphia Research and Education Foundation (PREF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports the research and teaching mission of the Corporal Michael J. Cresencz (CMC) VA Medical Center. PREF is hiring a Clinical Research Nurse or Clinical Research Physician Assistant. This position reports to the Principal Investigator and the Executive Director of PREF. Interaction with senior medical center management and staff, affiliated university staff and VA employees is also required of this position. In addition to the criteria listed below, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, fast learner and that is willing to work hard to further develop the research program.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Clinical Research Nurse or Clinical Research Physician Assistant to join our team focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) clinical trials. This role involves supporting the development and implementation of clinical research protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Conduct patient assessments, including medical history and physical examinations, to evaluate eligibility for clinical trials.
  • Protocol Implementation: Assist in the development and execution of clinical trial protocols, including patient recruitment and informed consent processes.
  • Data Collection: Collect, record, and analyze clinical data in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and institutional standards.
  • Monitoring: Monitor patient progress throughout the trial, documenting any adverse events and ensuring patient safety.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with principal investigators, research coordinators, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective trial operations.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the clinical trial process, potential risks, and benefits.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and institutional policies related to clinical research.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit reports on trial progress, including data summaries and adverse event reports.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (for Clinical Research Nurse) or a Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies (for Clinical Research Physician Assistant).
  • Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the state of practice.
  • Experience: 4 years of experience in clinical research, especially in gastroenterology or IBD.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in clinical research (e.g., ACRP or SoCRA).
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems and clinical trial management software.
