Are you an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) looking for an exhilarating career opportunity? Our inpatient liver/kidney/pancreas transplant team at the Penn Transplant Institute is expanding, and we want you to be part of our dynamic and rapidly growing team!
The Penn Transplant Institute consistently exceed national averages in all organ transplants, thanks to our multidisciplinary approach and collaboration across Penn Medicine. Our abdominal organ transplant service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) performs over 150 liver transplants, 250 kidney transplants, and 15 kidney/pancreas transplants annually.
As a valued member of our team, you will manage inpatient care, take charge of clinical decision-making, perform procedures, and coordinate complex discharge planning and transitions in care. You will collaborate with world-class surgeons, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, and nurses to provide top-notch care. Additionally, you will educate patients, families, and staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed and supported. Participation in departmental initiatives and Unit-Based Clinical Leadership (UBCL) is expected to continually enhance our services. Opportunities for professional growth are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement in hospital projects and committees.
You will work 72 hours per 2-week pay period, including night shifts and rotational coverage on weekends and holidays.
All Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania medical staff and are credentialed through that body. You will be held accountable through a formal job description, delineation of privileges, and a Collaborative Practice Agreement with your supervising physician.
Credentials:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Required)
- BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (For providers in the ambulatory setting) required
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Masters Physician Assistant required
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Pennsylvania State license, active and in good standing at time of hire
- Prescriptive Authority (Required)
- Registered Nurse – PA (Required if Acute Care Nurse Practitioner)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
- Master of Arts or Science (Required)
- The CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.
- Education Specialization: Master’s Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) in Nursing
