Full Job Description

STR Behavioral Health – Lehigh Valley Outpatient is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their team! The schedule is as follows:

Mondays: 11am-8pm

Tuesdays: 9am-3pm

Thursdays: 11am-8pm

About Us

STR Behavioral Health Lehigh Valley is a premier outpatient treatment center for substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health disorders in Pennsylvania. To ensure each client we work with receives the best possible care, we offer separate treatment programs for substance use disorder and mental illness. Our levels of care include partial hospitalization treatment and intensive outpatient treatment (day and night programs) with the support of a psychiatric provider, licensed clinicians, and experienced professionals. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options are offered at all care levels. Our programs are trauma-informed, individualized, and accredited by the Human Rights Campaign as a leader in providing LGBTQ+ services.

How you Will Contribute

  • Ensure the health and safety of all clients
  • Assess and prescribe appropriate medication regimens
  • Assess medical and psychiatric issues / concerns and address or make appropriate referral
  • Approve potential admissions based on medical and psychiatric requirements
  • Consult with treatment team on primary diagnosis and co-occurring issues

Relationships and Contacts

Within the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with peers and accounting team members throughout Steps to Recovery and affiliated facilities.

Outside the organization: Establish and maintain productive working relationships with third party vendors, as necessary.

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment
  • Help Clients by providing information, services, and assistance
  • Routine checkups and psychiatric evaluations of clients
  • Conducting follow up and evaluation of client physical and psychiatric conditions
  • Prescribe medications as necessary
  • Document clinical, medical, and psychiatric treatments and recommendations
  • Pre-screen clients by reviewing psych and medical records for admission
  • Order Lab work and UAs as needed

What We’re Seeking

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a Psychiatric setting, preferably in a substance abuse setting.
  • Certified in the state of Pennsylvania as a CRNP
  • Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, Masters degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work with a clinical team to make recommendations and implement strategies that will benefit clients
  • Willingness to take calls during afterhours days and times.
  • Other tasks and duties appropriate to the position and/or as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to communicate with peers/general public, clients and/or vendors
  • Tolerant to various noise levels: noise level in the work environment varies may be very quiet to moderate
  • Job performance will require the ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch
