Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols.
- Operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to Aseptic technique and safety standards.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper patient positioning and image quality for accurate diagnosis.
- Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, maintaining HIPAA compliance to protect patient confidentiality.
- Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical documentation and medical coding when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and organized dental clinic environment, following infection control guidelines to ensure safety for both patients and staff.
- Collaborate with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency during chairside assisting sessions.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
- Experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and operating X-ray equipment.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with children to create a comfortable experience.
- Ability to perform medical imaging procedures accurately using 3D scanners and traditional radiography equipment.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical coding standards related to dental care.
- Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist or front desk assistant to coordinate appointments and patient flow effectively. Pay: $24.53 – $29.54 per hour
