Job SummaryJoin our dynamic dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), where you’ll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care through advanced chairside assistance and expanded clinical responsibilities. As an EFDA, you will support dentists by performing a variety of clinical procedures, ensuring smooth workflow, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your dental assisting expertise in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment dedicated to improving oral health.

Responsibilities

  • Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and privacy.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards.
  • Perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
  • Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow to optimize clinic productivity.
  • Operate advanced technology including 3D scanners and other digital imaging tools to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to communicate effectively within the team.
  • Uphold all infection control protocols and adhere to OSHA standards to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting with experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient comfort.
  • Skilled in chairside assisting with expertise in four-handed dentistry techniques for seamless workflow.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
  • Experience with digital imaging tools including 3D scanners and other advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Understanding of infection control procedures, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes within a dental clinic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills suitable for collaborating with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists.
