Full Job Description

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)Location: Compass Pain and Wellness – Portland, OregonEmployment Type: Full-TimeSpecialty: Pain Management – Workers’ Compensation Focus

About Us:

Compass Pain and Wellness is not your typical medical practice. We’re a mission-driven organization with the goal of helping every patient overcome barriers to recovery. We prioritize three things:

· Going above and beyond for every patient that walks through our door;

· Providing the highest-quality, evidence-based medicine;

· Having a great team that has fun at work every day!

We cut out the stuffy red tape culture and are building a healthcare startup that’s lean, supportive of all our staff, and most importantly, that cares.

Position Summary:

We’re seeking a skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care and be dedicated to helping individuals suffering from acute and chronic occupational injuries chart their path to recovery.

You will work closely with two of the nation’s leading pain management physicians with more than 70 years of combined experience. This includes being at the forefront of both the most advanced interventional procedures and the biopsychosocial model, working in close connection with our in-house physical therapy, psychology, massage, and chiropractic clinicians to address all aspects of the pain journey.

This is a rare opportunity to advance your clinical skillset in a supportive environment. You will become an expert clinician with managing chronic pain and musculoskeletal issues, and also a savvy patient advocate in occupational medicine administration and report writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical examination, causation, and diagnostics.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based protocols that leverage our multidisciplinary care model.
  • Collaborate closely with supervising physicians to provide exceptional care, clinical case management, and documentation.
  • Provide strategic documentation to advocate for patients within the workers’ compensation system.
  • Attend team meetings and contribute to care coordination and case discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Physician Assistant license in Oregon.
  • Certification by an accredited PA board (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
  • Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
  • Experience in pain management, occupational medicine, or orthopedics preferred.
  • Familiarity with Workers’ Comp processes and concepts is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to work closely with physician mentors, soak up knowledge, and be a proactive communicator.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package—open to incentive programs
  • Supportive, fun and collaborative work environment
  • Opportunities for professional growth and continuing education
  • Meaningful work helping injured workers on their road to recovery

We’re looking to invest long term in the right candidate. Someone who takes to this role and invests in the process will become among the most skilled, and highly compensated NP/PAs in the State.
