Full Job Description

Seeking a full time Advanced Practice Professional, Physician Assistant, in primary care to join the WesternU Health Oliver Station and be involved with both patient care and student instruction.
About WesternU Health Oliver Station at Western University of Health Sciences:
WesternU Health Oliver Station at Western University of Health Sciences is a dynamic, thriving family medicine group in Portland Oregon. The practice is fully outpatient-based, and offers a modern facility with the use of electronic medical records. It affords opportunity for a broad scope of Family Medicine practice, well women care (excluding obstetrical care), and geriatrics. In addition, providers are able perform minor procedures. After-hours telephone call coverage, while required, is minimal and rotates weekly among the providers.
WesternU Health Oliver Station is affiliated with the osteopathic medical school at Western University of Health Sciences in Lebanon, Oregon, and serves as a teaching site for Family Medicine clinical rotation training for our third and fourth year medical students. As part of this group, providers are also responsible for contributing and shaping the students’ educational experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. 1. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, healthcare teams and patients. 2. Must have working knowledge of common desktop computer software, including basic familiarity with Electronic Medical Record systems and have a general knowledge of audio-video recording systems. 3. Must be able to function independently, make sound judgment calls, and be able to practice within the full scope of the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License

Required Qualifications

1. EDUCATION: (Physician Assistant) Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program 2. LICENSURE: (Physician Assistant) Oregon Physician Assistant License and NCCPA Certification required 3. HEALTH CLEARANCE: Must submit all required health related documents prior to employment. May be required to maintain annual records for items such as TB clearance. 4. BACKGROUND CHECK: A background check may be initiated that may include criminal, employment, educational, and financial history.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Bilingual (English/Chinese or Vietnames) candidates will be given strong preference.
Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities
1) Quality Care. Provides quality patient care within scope of the license as an integral part of the healthcare team. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide efficient quality patient care. Assesses and monitors patient response to procedures and treatments. Reports patient condition and reaction to tests, drugs, treatments, and any significant incidents to the attending physician.

2) Plan of Care. Establishes and implements the plan of care for patients by evaluating all pertinent information and collaborating with healthcare team. Orders diagnostic tests and procedures, medication, consultations, work-ups, etc within scope of practice.

4) Patient Education. Provides educational information to patients, family, etc.
