Job Overview:
Shriners Children’s Portland is seeking a PRN Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our team at Shriners Children’s Portland. This provider will assist in the management of pediatric patients with a wide range of orthopedic conditions in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting.
Site Description
- 29 bed inpatient facility located on the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) campus minutes from Downtown Portland
- Serves as a tertiary referral center for pediatric orthopedic patients across the Pacific Northwest
- U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Children’s Hospitals for pediatric orthopedics
- Press Ganey Guardian and Pinnacle of Excellence Award winner for Inpatient Pediatric Patient Experience (2023)
- Specialties/lines of service: Orthopedics, pediatric surgery, spine and spinal cord, sports medicine, pediatric rehabilitation and therapy.
- Team of 10 pediatric orthopedic surgeons, 6 pediatric anesthesiologists, and 4 Advanced Practice Providers (NPs and PAs)
- Onsite orthotics and prosthetics, motion analysis lab, clinical research program, telehealth
- EMR: Epic (Clinic), Cerner (OR)
- Advanced diagnostic imaging onsite: O-arm, EOS, Neurosurgical microscope
- Partnerships with OHSU and Providence-St. Vincent Medical Center
Schedule
- Hours: Per Diem, 1-2 days per week
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to patients under the direction of the Chief of Staff and other attending physicians
- Enter post-op orders
- Enter perioperative documentation
- Manage post-op patients on the Inpatient Unit
- Prescribe medications pursuant to the Oregon laws and regulations under the direction of supervising physician
- Perform initial and admitting history and physical and formulate treatment plan (outpatient)
- Potential to provide assistance in surgical cases at a first assistant level based on training and experience
Qualifications:
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies
- Current board certification from NCCPA
- Valid OR PA-C license
- RNFA certification is preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- PALS certification required within 3 months of employment
- Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care is required
- Current full vaccination status
- Experience in managing pediatric patients in the inpatient settings is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills with experience in Epic EHR preferred
