Inpatient Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Provider

Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and skilled Inpatient Orthopaedic Advanced Practice Provider to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in delivering high-quality patient care within an inpatient setting, focusing on acute orthopedic conditions at Legacy Emanuel Hospital, a Level I Trauma Facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Duties

· Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations of patients with orthopedic conditions.

· Monitor and assess vital signs/inpatient labs/imaging studies, ensuring timely interventions as necessary.

· Manage acute pain for patients post-surgery and during hospitalization, utilizing evidence-based practices.

· Perform necessary procedures related to patient care.

· Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

· Participate in utilization management activities to ensure appropriate resource use and patient care efficiency.

· Provide education to patients and families regarding treatment options, recovery processes, and rehabilitation strategies where applicable.

· Document all patient interactions/procedures accurately in electronic health records, maintaining compliance with healthcare and hospital regulations.

Requirements

· Current licensure as a Physician Assistant/Associate in the state of Oregon.

· Experience in orthopedics or a surgical field is preferred.

· Proficiency in performing physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations.

· Familiarity with acute pain management strategies and techniques.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

· Commitment to providing compassionate patient-centered care.

· Experience with EPIC is preferred.

Responsibilities

Day Shift Responsibilities. This is a 12-hour shift onsite at Legacy Emanuel Hospital. 7am – 7pm.

· Round on all active orthopaedic patient’s as provided by each of the surgical teams.

· Maintain the group’s EPIC active inpatient lists to ensure organization and adequate follow up for all patients/consults.

· Answer pages/EPIC secure chat messages from providers/bedside RN’s/healthcare teams regarding orthopedic patients, and input appropriate care orders as needed.

· Provide in person consultation for orthopaedic consults from the Emergency Department, Trauma service, and Inpatient teams.

· Respond to the hospital within 20 minutes for any time critical consults.

· Complete admission orders, discharge orders, medication reconciliation, and specialist consultation as appropriate.

· Perform orthopaedic procedures as applicable to include but not limited to; reduction, splinting, femoral/tibial traction pins, incision and drainage, laceration repair.

· In a timely manner, follow-up on night shift consults handed off to the day team.

· Assisting in the operating room with Orthopaedic on call attending as needed for urgent/emergent cases.

· Prepare hand-off list for night shift.

· Complete notes and provide fee tickets for all billable services rendered.

Pay: $120,000.00 – $170,000.00 per year
