Full Job Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education – Successful completion of an accredited course of study specifically designed for training professional Mid-Level Providers.

Experience – One (1) year of relevant experience preferred.

Licenses & Certification – Course of study or program completed by the incumbent must be approved by a nationally recognized professional medical body such as the AMA, AAMC or other body established for this purpose.

Knowledge & Skills –

  • Professional knowledge of wide range of health principles practices and processes including: physical and emotional assessment, establishment of health and nursing care goals, construction and implementation of the care program and evaluation of the results.

  • Ability to collect, organize, record, and communicate in a concise method, data pertinent to primary health assessments including detailed family and medical history, physical examinations, and selected laboratory tests.

  • Ability to interpret special screening and developmental tests, and selected laboratory and x‑ray findings.

  • Skill in making appropriate diagnosis, and in choosing, initiating, and modifying current therapies.

  • Ability to provide emergency treatment such as in cardiac arrest, shock, or hemorrhage.

  • Ability to treat minor and chronic illnesses.

  • Ability to provide preventive service to health individuals including guidance in nutrition, common illnesses, child growth and development, and ability to teach individuals and families.

  • Skill in working with groups to guide families in problem‑solving process regarding health problems.

  • Assist with medical in‑services and instruction of tribal health workers. Participate in program evaluation and planning activities.

JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to provide preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services to the designated population of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Department of Health in accordance with the ambulatory health staff. Incumbent operates under the direct supervision of the physician. Provide guidance and assistance to Clinical Staff as needed. This is an exempt position as applicable to the provisions of the FLSA.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an ambulatory health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. The work may include a certain amount of exposure to hostile and/or emotionally disturbed patients, families, and visitors. Must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as requested and required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work in the ambulatory health care setting requires considerable walking between exam and treatment rooms, and long periods of moving about the work unit. Work requires regular and recurring bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting of patients or similar activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

  • Provide preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services.

  • Make appropriate referrals to clinic staff and/or other agencies.

  • Participate in the observation and evaluation of community health problems, discussion of solutions and carrying out community health programs.

  • Render patient services such as obtaining case histories, conducting physical examinations, counseling, prepare patient for and assisting in minor surgery, aiding in emergency care and making appropriate referral for definitive management of secondary and tertiary medical care.

  • Perform triage of walk-in patients in the Hospital Emergency Room.

  • Participate in Clinic CQI program and performs CQI activities.

  • Order appropriate laboratory, radiological and other diagnostic tests.

  • Keep and maintain clear and accurate records on patients seen in accordance with established policy.

  • Regular attendance is required.

  • Performs other duties as required.
