Position Overview
We are seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) to join a new inpatient behavioral health treatment center providing structured, evidence-based care to adults with mental health and/or substance use disorders. This role works collaboratively with the Medical Director, nursing staff, and clinical leadership to support patient care across detoxification, residential, and inpatient levels of care.
The ideal candidate has experience in behavioral health, addiction medicine, or inpatient medical settings and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform medical evaluations, histories, and physical assessments for incoming and current patients
- Manage ongoing medical care, including monitoring withdrawal symptoms, medical stability, and chronic conditions
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with state regulations and facility protocols
- Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, nursing staff, and clinical team on treatment planning
- Review and sign medical documentation in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Respond to medical concerns, medication issues, and changes in patient condition
- Participate in admissions, discharges, and interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Ensure compliance with state licensing, Joint Commission (or CARF), and internal policies
- Assist with medical emergencies and on-call coverage as required
- Support a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused treatment environment
Qualifications
- Current Physician Assistant (PA) license in the state of employment (required)
- NCCPA certification (required)
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, inpatient care, or detox strongly preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable working in a startup or newly opened treatment setting
Schedule & Employment Details
- Full-time, on-site position
- Schedule may include weekday coverage with rotating weekends or on-call responsibilities
