- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is ready for procedures.
- Assist surgical teams during operations by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing supplies to facilitate smooth procedures.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques to prevent infection and ensure patient safety throughout surgical interventions.
- Monitor vital signs and physiological responses of patients during surgery, providing critical data to the team.
- Collect and document data related to surgical procedures, patient responses, and equipment usage in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic.
- Support patient care before, during, and after surgery by ensuring comfort, safety, and adherence to protocols.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including anesthesiologists, nurses, and physicians to optimize surgical outcomes in complex environments like Level I Trauma Centers or PICU settings. Requirements
- Proven experience working in hospital environments with OR experience or ambulatory surgery centers.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to perform suturing and assist with various surgical procedures across specialties such as trauma, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and critical care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic for documentation and data collection purposes.
- Critical care experience including ICU or Level II trauma center exposure is highly desirable.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Excellent analysis skills for assessing patient needs and responding swiftly in acute care situations.
