Job description Med Ninjas is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) for long term locum tenens coverage at a inpatient facility located in Springfield, OH The PA-C must be available for the complete coverage block from September 2026 to 2027 This assignment includes Inpatient, onsite hospital coverage, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and on call weekend. Locum Tenens Physician Assistant (PA) – Cardiothoracic Surgery Shift: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with floor call/beeper 3pm-7am; Saturday and Sunday 24-hour onsite support and floor call or OR call. Start Date: September 2026 End Date: 2027 Position Details: Coverage needed 1-2 weeks per month until 2027 due to growth; inpatient/hospital-based cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. Patient Population: Adult, Geriatric Setting: Inpatient/Hospital-Based; Trauma Level 2. Responsibilities: Post-op care for all types of cardiothoracic and vascular patients; emergency surgery; taking consults/referrals from the ED, Cath Lab and hospital providers; assisting in surgery; rounding; coordinating care; interpreting tests; ordering tests; writing prescriptions. Required Procedures: Vein harvesting; retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit; cardiothoracic and vascular surgical assistance; post-operative care. EMR System: Epic Support Staff: Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery team, hospital providers, ED and Cath Lab teams. Days Per Month: 1-2 weeks per month. On-Call/Weekends: Yes. Floor call/beeper 3pm-7am on weekdays; Saturday and Sunday 24-hour onsite support and floor call or OR call. Weekend call-back may be around 10 hours. Required Procedures and Skills Post-operative care for cardiothoracic and vascular surgery patients Emergency cardiothoracic and vascular surgery Surgical assistance Vein harvesting Retrieval of vascular tissues for use as a bypass conduit Consults and referrals from ED, Cath Lab and hospital providers Rounding Care coordination Test interpretation and ordering Prescription writing Requirements Board Certified Vascular Surgery REQUIRED Active Ohio license or compact license REQUIRED Active ACLS REQUIRED Active DEA REQUIRED Clean background with no malpractice or license issues REQUIRED 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery services REQUIRED Interested Physician Assistant (PA) can reply with an recent CV, availability, preferred shift type, active license status, and expected hourly and call rates .
