Full Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School education with certification in Medical Assisting preferred

· One-year full time work experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work

· Ability to utilize computers with proficiency in MS Office and patient management software; Knowledge of medical office systems and procedures

· Ability to interact positively with others. Strong organizational and planning skills

· Willingness to accept the mission and goals of the Margaret B. Shipley Child Health Clinic, Inc.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support providers and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner. Position is directly responsible to staff Pediatrician, Child Health Clinic, Inc.

FUNCTIONS

· Interviews patients and documents basic medical history; Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care

· Performs administrative functions for scheduling appointments, answering phone messages/triage and electronic and/or faxed communications for medical report or referral

· Communicates with providers regarding patient/family health problems and treatment

· Updates and files medical records and insurance reports

· Arranges hospital admissions and laboratory services

  • Maintains all vaccine logs and required temperature checks
  • Measures and records all vitals, update patient charts
  • Assists during medical examinations
  • Administers immunizations, obtains blood samples and dispenses prescription and non-prescription medications according to Clinic protocol
  • Produces and distributes correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Communicates with Care Coordinator and other healthcare providers regarding patient/family treatment and progress
  • Handles medical supply ordering and stock
  • Prepares and cleans treatment rooms and medical instruments
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance and conducts other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
