OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medical procedures, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and ensuring the comfort of our animal patients. We have three thriving Veterinary clinic’s: Aurora Veterinary Clinic, Mantua Veterinary Clinic and Streetsboro Veterinary Center all located in a 15 minute distance from each location.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and medical procedures.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian or veterinary technician.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Monitor animal behavior and report any changes or concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Educate pet owners on proper care and treatment plans for their animals.
- Assist with laboratory tests, including collecting samples for analysis.
- Support the front desk staff with scheduling appointments and managing client communications.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years experience working in a veterinary clinic or veterinary referral hospital
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and handling techniques.
- Familiarity with medication administration and aseptic techniques is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and their well-being is essential.
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician is a plus but not required.
