Compensation
Mount Sinai South Nassau provides a salary range in good faith determination of potential compensation to comply with the New York State law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
The CTICU PA will work closely with attending physicians, surgeons, APPs, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care for critically ill patients in the immediate post-operative and intensive care setting. Ideal candidates are team-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about critical care medicine.
The CTICU PA is responsible for patient care with supervising physician, and in collaboration with associated medical teams and staffing. He/she performs a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics, and performance of corrective, preventive and therapeutic measures in the inpatient, surgical, and/or outpatient setting. Assumes medical staff privileging under the scope of practice of a delegated physician determined by Mount Sinai Health System, and the department of hire.
Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Graduation from Accredited Physician Assistant Program, Masters preferred
Experience And Skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- CTICU experience preferred; candidates with strong critical care or cardiac experience are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated clinical excellence and advanced critical thinking in high-acuity settings
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented ICU environment
- Epic experience preferred
- Basic Microsoft Office use
License/Certifications
- Current NYS Physician Assistant Licensure/Registration.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the NYS Board of Medicine
- Current unrestricted DEA certificate for mid-level providers. (Full schedule: 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, 5)
- NYS Mandated Infection Control Course Certificate (renewable every four years)
- Current BLS and ACLS
Working Conditions

- Physical ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and demonstrate dexterity for short or extended periods of time
