Position Overview
A developing Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) program in Forest Hills, New York is seeking dedicated and experienced Physician Assistants to serve as Principal Faculty at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (non-tenure track, commensurate with experience). This is a full-time, 12-month, primarily on-site position.

The 24-month MSPAS program (12 months didactic, 12 months clinical) is currently pursuing provisional accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), with an anticipated inaugural cohort in 2027.

Principal Faculty will play a central role in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of all aspects of the program, working closely with the Program Director, Medical Director, and faculty team.

Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Program Development & Administration

  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure alignment with institutional mission, program goals, and ARC-PA accreditation standards
  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the MSPAS curriculum
  • Participate in program planning, organization, assessment, and continuous quality improvement
  • Assist in accreditation activities, including report preparation and site visits
  • Support development and revision of program mission, vision, goals, and competencies

Teaching & Instruction

  • Deliver instruction across didactic and clinical phases of the program
  • Facilitate lectures, laboratory sessions, small group learning, and clinical skills training
  • Lead simulation activities and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs)
  • Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback

Student Support & Mentorship

  • Advise and mentor students throughout all phases of the program, including capstone projects
  • Monitor academic progress and identify students in need of support
  • Provide or coordinate remediation as necessary

Admissions & Recruitment

  • Participate in student recruitment and admissions processes
  • Review applications, evaluate candidates, and serve on the Admissions Committee

Clinical Coordination

  • Assist in development, evaluation, and maintenance of clinical sites
  • Collaborate with clinical partners and preceptors

Faculty & Institutional Engagement

  • Attend faculty meetings, committees, and professional development activities
  • Maintain office hours and effective communication with students and colleagues
  • Contribute to program materials such as handbooks and policy documents
  • Participate in events such as orientations, open houses, and professional conferences

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Certification

  • Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Active New York State PA license (or eligibility)

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice experience
  • Prior teaching experience in clinical or academic settings preferred
  • Experience in PA education strongly preferred

Work Environment & Requirements

  • Primary location: Forest Hills, NY
  • Full-time, 12-month appointment
  • Primarily in-person with occasional evening responsibilities
  • Ability to travel to clinical sites as needed
  • Physical requirements consistent with academic and clinical environments

Faculty may be eligible for one release day per week for clinical practice or professional development, subject to approval.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $120,000 – $147,000 annually, commensurate with experience
