Job Summary
Medical assistant Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
Only applicants with experience will be considered.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Comply with all OSHA regulations
- Patient flow/check in as per the “Checking patients In” Protocol
- Exam room preparation including appropriate set-up for procedures (daily)
- Exam room cleaning and restocking of supplies (weekly)
- Assist at Procedures ( PAPs, Minor Surgery, EKG, PFT, Wound Care, Injections, Blood Draws, DOT physicals, Ear Lavage, Neubulizer treatments) etc.
- Perform basic in- office lab testis (U/A, Urine Pregnancy, Strep Test , H- Pylori)
- Laboratory organization, keep log update in daily basis (no excuse)
- Call in prescriptions under the direction of the MD
- Assist in patient call backs under the direction of the MD
- Inventory twice a month start and end and request all medical supplies through Office Manager Scan all labs, reports and consultation and task to appropriate patient chart
- Maintain pap smear logs. Includes follow- up
- Forward referrals/ order forms for outpatient testing and specialist for processing
- Appointments in coordination with the front desk person who also processed them assist/ cover the front desk or phones as needed
- Process pre- authorization for uncovered medications
- Regulated waste program ( collect and secure biohazard waste for monthly pick- up
- Schedule follow- up, physical, blood drawn, ect. Appointments as directed
- Assure patients have everything required for departure, Rx, pt education, lab & radiology orders, appointment before proceed with check out. ( Copay for injections & Procedures)
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Immunizations/ injections
- Knowledge of assisting providers with procedures
- Excellent communication skills and rapport with patient
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Maintain patient confidentiality
