Job Description

Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care under the supervision of a physician.

Foot Care:

  • Educates patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues, and use of prescribed treatments and/or medications.
  • Prescribe medications, corrective devices.
  • Refer patients to physicians when symptoms indicative of systemic disorders, such as arthritis or diabetes, are observed in feet and legs.
  • Ensure assistant properly maintains medical equipment.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records (using Docuform).
  • Follow-up exit with contact person at facilities concerning any issues or concerns you may have concerning patients. This may include referrals and prescribed medications.
  • Required to leave a carbon copy of the Docuform and any other Doctor’s notes with the facility. Hand delivered to facility contact person. (Unless specific arrangement made with facility as to when and how they’re to receive this information).

General Medicine

  • Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.
  • Treat patient for disease/injury and prescribe medication accordingly.
  • Refer patients to specialized physicians when symptoms indicative of systemic disorders.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Document work performed on the patient in the form of Doctor’s notes.

Other Duties

  • Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations according to NC State regulatory standards.
  • Facilitates evaluation of records by physician(s), peers, and Quality and Standards according to protocols, and receives and implements constructive directives.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Physical Skills and Abilities: May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations and/or consumer facilities; or the ability to stand, walk and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 – 20 pounds. Requires minimal time at a computer terminal including moderate typing using a keyboard to input information. Health Promotion and Maintenance, Thoroughness, Clinical Skills, Informing Others, Medical Teamwork, Physiological Knowledge, Bedside Manner, Infection Control, Administering Medication, Pain Management, Self-Development.

Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors in an artificially controlled environment. Travel to satellite sites and/or consumer facilities. Exposure to biohazards; necessary precautions (i.e. surgical gloves, eyewear and face masks.

Qualifications/Skills required:

Licensed Certified Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or Nurse Practitioner by the Board of Nursing. Experience in having worked with a Licensed Podiatrist a minimum of 1 year, preferred not required. Excellent communication skills; Working knowledge of computer applications; Ability to work independently and achieve goals/objectives without close supervision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $115,000.00 per year
