Overview:
We are a new family medicine practice serving Kannapolis, NC and surrounding areas. We believe in spending quality time with our patients, actively listening to their concerns, and working to educate patients on the difference between sick care and well care. When possible we will work to help our patients come off of their prescription drugs if desired. Our goal is to ultimately treat patients not numbers. We strive to provide great care by treating patients as partners in their healthcare journey.
The Physician Assistant (PA) will work in collaboration with all individuals on our team to provide high-quality care to patients. The PA will conduct physical exams, take medical histories, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, as well as work to educate patients on the difference between sick care and well care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough physical exams, evaluate patient history, and assess symptoms.
- Diagnose illnesses and develop appropriate treatment plans.
- Prescribe medications, perform procedures, and provide care according to physician guidance and practice protocols.
- Monitor and manage chronic conditions, provide follow-up care, and adjust treatments as necessary.
- Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, and preventive care.
- Clinical Support:
- Review and interpret diagnostic test results (e.g., lab tests, imaging).
- Order, interpret, and monitor laboratory tests and imaging results.
- Develop and maintain patient records, documenting patient interactions and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with physicians and other medical staff to formulate comprehensive care plans.
- Participate in patient rounds and discussions to ensure integrated care.
- Administrative Duties:
- Complete all necessary documentation, including medical charts, progress notes, and prescriptions.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical medical practices.
- Schedule follow-up appointments, communicate treatment progress with patients, and handle patient inquiries.
- Ensure proper compliance with healthcare regulations, protocols, and standards.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with medical developments, research, and treatment protocols.
- Attend continuing education courses, workshops, and conferences.
- Maintain licensure and certifications, including required CME (Continuing Medical Education) credits.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- A Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Licensing/Certification:
- Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or equivalent).
- Experience:
- Previous experience working within a clinical practice. Ability to handle a high volume of patients and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience in both women’s health and pediatrics preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a healthcare team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for long periods, perform physical examinations, and move between different healthcare settings.
- Ability to lift and assist patients as required.
Work Environment:
- Work in a fast-paced, patient-centered medical facility.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, medical equipment, and various healthcare risks.
