Location: Cumberland County VA Clinic, 7300 South Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304
Facility Overview: The Cumberland County VA Clinic is a part of the Fayetteville VA Coastal Health Care System, dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to Veterans in southeastern North Carolina. Our clinic offers various services, including primary care, cardiology, prosthetics and rehabilitation, sleep medicine, and surgery. Position Summary: The Physician Assistant (PA) in Primary Care will provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of adult patients, emphasizing health promotion, disease prevention, and management of acute and chronic conditions. The PA will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and uphold the Veterans Health Administration’s (VHA) mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering/interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Treatment Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the health care team.
- Prescribing: Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with VA policies and state regulations.
- Patient Education: Provide education and counseling to Veterans and their families regarding medical conditions, treatments, and preventive health measures.
- Collaboration: Establish professional working relationships with clinical service providers within the medical center, outpatient clinics, and community-based outpatient clinics.
- Consultation: Offer telephone consultations, screen consults for appropriate and timely care prior to scheduling, and communicate with inpatient multidisciplinary team members, such as pharmacy, dietary, IT, lab, and other specialists/providers.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care activities in the electronic medical record system.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of a training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Certification: Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Licensure: Unrestricted license to practice as a PA in any U.S. state or territory.
- Experience: Prior experience in primary care or a related field is preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical records, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some positions may require rotating call coverage, including weekdays, nights, weekends, and/or holidays, based on the needs of the organization.
