We are currently recruiting for a Physician Assistant in our Concord Orthopedic Urgent Care.
Orthopedic Urgent Care (OUC) physician assistants are responsible for providing a high level of orthopedic care in alignment with the quality and excellence set forth by OrthoCarolina physicians. Responsibilities will include evaluating, diagnosing, and treating various urgent and non-urgent conditions in autonomous high-volume clinics, and seeing patients with various orthopedic injuries and illnesses. Proficiency in casting, splinting, ordering tests, and completing documentation in accordance with OrthoCarolina policies and procedures. This position requires a clinician experienced in clinical orthopedics who is comfortable with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and physical examination results.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, advanced imaging, physical therapy, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, aspirations, and fracture reduction. Assesses, applies, and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
  • Documents patient records. Documents patient information and care provided in patient records. Uses computer to access/enter needed data. Responds to patient inbox messages within 2 business days.
  • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Provides continuity of care by consulting with physicians and other staff as necessary for the delivery of quality patient care
  • Evaluates, prescribes, and provides treatment for patients seen as hospital consults, including Emergency Room consultations and patients seen in the clinic.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program.

  • North Carolina PA license
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics is required.
